My name is LeKardo Pitts, and I’ve been practicing photography since 2016. I fell in love with photography the moment I took my first professional photo and my client reacted in a way that I would want all my clients to react every time I showed them a photograph I captured of them. Although I didn’t start practicing photography until 2016, I learned about some of the rules from obtaining my Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Mass Media from Millikin
University in Decatur, IL. Through Millikin University I was given an opportunity to become an intern at Decatur’s local television station WAND-TV. The internship included videography/photography, editing and producing which ultimately turned into a part-time position as a videographer/photographer, video editor, studio camera operator, associate producer and teleprompter controller. While working for WAND-TV I learned about composition, framing, lighting and video editing software. After a few years of being back home in the St. Louis area and working for the United States Postal Service I decided to upgrade what I had already
learned at Millikin University by enrolling in the Professional Arts and Video program at the Broadcasting Center on the southside of St. Louis which is now closed. The Broadcasting Center introduced me to the new technology the video and photography industry had to offer. I completed the program and received my Certificate in Professional Arts and Video. In 2014, I decided I wanted to obtain my Masters in Business Administration because I wanted to start a small video production company. I enrolled in Fontbonne’s University’s MBA program and received my MBA in 2016. I started LeKardo Pitts Photography shortly after receiving my MBA. Although my intentions were to start a video production company, I decided to incorporate digital photography and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.
